Certain Items will not be permitted within the secure perimeter. Below is a partial list of items that will not be permitted. Please keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive and should only be used as a guide.

- Fireworks, explosives
- Camcorders, large cameras
- Umbrellas
- Strollers
- Poles, sticks
- Laser lights, pointers
- Coolers
- Backpacks
- Tasers, stun guns
- Containers of any type (e.g. bottles, cans)
- Aerosols
- Mace, pepper spray
- Noise makers, horns
- Banners, signs, placards
- Carrying cases
- Tripods
- Laptops
- Sharp and/or pointed objects
- Leatherman, similar tools
Welcome Event
More than 20,000 guests, including media and delegates, will be invited to the 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee’s Welcome event, which will kick off the week of the Republican National Convention. The inaugural event will be the first of its kind in the history of the Convention. Traditionally, delegates and media members have been welcomed separately during two or more Host Committee events; however, these events will now be combined into one monumental occasion that will showcase all of Tampa Bay, including Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater.

Attire
Attire for the Welcome Event is Florida casual. Please do not wear high heels, jackets or ties. In addition, please do not bring large purses or bags as you will be subject to search.
